A frog is an amphibian. They lay their eggs in water. The eggs hatch into a tadpole which lives in water until it metamorphoses into an adult frog.Frogs are a diverse and largely carnivorous group of short - bodied, tailless amphibians composing the order Anura. Frogs are widely distributed, ranging around the topics to subarctic regions, but the greatest concentration of species diversity is found in tropical rain-forests. There are approximately

4, 800 record species , accounting for over 85% of extant amphibian species. They are also one of the five most diverse vertebrate orders.

Getting lost!

It was a hot summer morning when Lucy, Jake, Mum, Dad, and Emma were going to the beach because it was hot. When they arrived to the beach Emma, Jake, and Lucy went out of the car and they went for a swim. After swimming they went and got changed. When they were done they came out and went for a little walk on the beach. While they were walking Lucy saw a sign which said, "do not enter," but Emma went in. By the time they got back to the car Emma was gone. Jake sat down and cried. Lucy said, "it’s okay, we can go find her." So they went off to look for Emma. They search everywhere but they just couldn't  find her anywhere. So they came back to Mum and Dad and told them that Emma was lost. Mum and Dad were very disappointed and they all went looking for her.

When they went looking for her they could not find her so they sat down and sang a song. Emma heard it and followed the sound. She made her way out and went and hugged her sister Lucy and said, "thank you for saving me." Everyone was happy, so they all went and celebrated
and they had supper there. When it was time to go Emma sat down on the beach and sang a song when Mum said it was time to go so everyone went. When Dad was driving he sang the song Emma was singing and everyone sang that song and made their way home and never return to this beach ever again.

Today Mrs Grant came to our class and taught us about editing photo's. This is a photo that I edited today.  I took a picture of myself and used the loop tool to cut around it.  Then I placed my picture on a photo of the Abu Simbel Temple.  It looks like I "went" to Egypt and saw the Abu Simbel Temple.
Day and Night

We have been learning about how we get day and night.  This is what I found out:

Day and night is caused by the rotation of the Earth. We get light from the Sun. The side that is facing the Sun is day and on the other side it’s night. When we have day the other side of the Earth is night. The Earth is turning from west to east. It takes 24 hours to make one rotation.

Submarine Adventure by Roderick Hunt

Today I read this book online.  It was written by Roderick Hunt.  I was learning to make comparisons between the texts I read.

Into the Pyramid by Tony Bradman and Jon stuart

                  Skipping

All students in Room 9 learnt how to skip . Skipping made them fit and healthy. They  could  play a game with the skipping ropes like skipping together and doing double unders. Room9 learnt to skip every school morning. G.I.S. children love to skip. Room 9 children are very good at skipping. Room 9 could do different kinds of skipping. Room 9 enjoys  skipping. If everybody learns to skip they will love it. And that's why I think you should learn to skip.

Taekwondo
Taekwondo is a martial mixed art and it is full of fun. At my school a very special lady came in to teach us about taekwondo. I've heard of the name before but never knew what it meant. In the first lesson we sat down on the field and she introduced herself. Her name was Mrs Robinson. She asked if we could stand up and say the oath.
“I shall observe the tenets of Taekwondo.
I shall respect the instructor and seniors.
I shall never misuse Taekwondo.
I shall be a champion of freedom and justice.
I shall build a more peaceful world.”
After the oath we learnt a few punches and one kick.

The next week she told us about the tenets of taekwondo.
They were “ Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self control and Indomitable Spirit. We practiced the punches that we were taught and the kick.

The following week she talked to us about the belts. There is a white belt, a yellow belt, a green belt, a blue belt, a red belt and a black belt. On that week she taught us how to do a front snap kick. In the last week we had to break a board ourselves. It was really hard but then SNAP the board broke. I was really happy because it was so much fun and I hope Mrs Robinson will come back again.

What I learnt about cogs.

Yesterday we learnt how to make a cog and use more than one cog together. We also spun one of them to move the other one. Mr. Ramkolowan taught us how to make the cogs and how to make all of them move. It was fun because we had to cut the cardboard into a circular shape. Then we drew the teeth and cut it out. Next we had to stick our pencil into it to make it spin. It was so cool when we played with it at the end. Nearly our whole class played together with every ones cogs. Ifa and I had the second smallest cogs.
Thursday 11 April 2013

On Monday we made all sizes and shapes of cardboard cogs.  I had to make a big cog. My helper was Etai but he didn't even help me much, so I did all the hard work. First we had to cut the cardboard into a circle. Then we

had to make the teeth of the cogs.

After that I cut the shape of the teeth myself. When that was finished I attached my cog to Melissa's cog. It worked perfectly. When I spun my cog, Melissa's cog would turn too. The teeth made the cogs turn. I was happy that I finished.

Swimming

When we went swimming I saw the coaches. I was very excited. F
irst they had to test us. When they were testing us I had to partner up with Kaufana.

We had to swim half a length of the pool and then come back. The coaches said that Kaufana and I were in group two. The coaches told us that they will always come on Tuesdays and Thursdays to coach us.

Although I love swimming, sometimes I forget to bring my togs and sometimes I don’t feel like swimming, especially if it is cold. Before we start to swim we always have to have a shower and when we get into the pool we have to go our coaches.

I love to go swimming because it helps you if you are stuck in the middle of the sea. If you can’t swim you will drown.

How toys work

Toys can work by a push, a pull, a spin, a press or some toys work by winding them. This toy in the picture works by a press. This toy came from McDonald's. It is very old. It can work by pressing the palm tree on top. There is a spring inside that forces the chair to sway back and forth. It is a fun toy to play with!

Learning how to swim

Learning how to swim is very important to everyone in the world, so that is why we have swimming coaches at our school. Every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays Glen Innes aquatic center coaches come to our school and teaches us how to swim. It is so important to learn how to swim because if you're out in the water and panicking you just might drown. Our swimming coaches teach us a lot and I go to all swimming lessons therefore I am very good at swimming. So you should learn how to swim too.

Walt: write a narrative

One day there was a Polyfest. It was in Auckland. Me my mum and my brothers and sisters went to the Polyfest. It was awesome. When we got there I got hungry so we went to buy some kebabs. It was delicious.

A Polyfest is a day that  all the cultures get to perform on stage. It is very scary to perform on stage because if you make a mistake the audience will laugh.

I was tired and I went to sleep although it was very loud but when I woke up my parents were gone and I was lost. I ran very fast to the security guard, I told him I was lost and I am looking for my parents.

Then I saw my parents. They were in the car sleeping. Me and the guard went to the car and knocked on the window. My mum woke up and said “where have you been?”

I said “Looking for you, Mum.”

My mum said “Come lets go now, I am very sleepy.”

                                Learning to Swim

Swimming is a good so you don't drown.  At school we go swimming everyday. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we have coaches that teach us swimming. I am in the third group which is the highest group.  Learning to swim is easy if you listen.  First, if you don't know how to swim, you start with a board then with no board.  After all that you learn how to breath. Finally you can swim.
